September is Hunger Action Month, a time to stand together with Tarrant Area Food Bank
(TAFB) in the fight against hunger. Serving partner food pantries in 13 North Texas
counties, TAFB works with schools, colleges, churches, and other organizations to provide
immediate food assistance to families and individuals in need. In addition, we offer a
variety of free educational programs. From backyard and community gardening
workshops, to budget-friendly cooking courses with an emphasis on nutrition, to providing
culinary training for people from all backgrounds, our vision is to create communities
where no one has to go hungry. With one of six adults and one of four kids not having
access to enough nutritious food to eat, there are many ways to get involved with TAFB.

Donate.

When you register for the Gear Up to End Hunger bike ride Saturday, Sept. 30 and
Sunday, Oct. 1, your purchase becomes a donation to TAFB. This year’s bike ride features
a family-friendly 2 or 10-mile ride, a 30-mile ride through downtown Fort Worth, and a
100K up to the Alliance area and back. More serious cyclists may be interested in
registering for Betsy’s Challenge. To take the challenge, you must complete the 30-mile
on Day 1 and the 100K on Day 2. To meet the challenge, you must finish both rides within
15 percent of Mayor Betsy Price’s time. If you’re not a cyclist, don’t worry. We take
financial gifts on our website at tafb.org/donate.

Volunteer.

Hungry to help? Join Team TAFB as a volunteer. Whether on the front lines of hunger or
behind the scenes, you choose the opportunity right for you. Register to volunteer with
one of our mobile pantries, in one of our vegetable and herb gardens, with our Cooking
Matters program, or in our Distribution Center sorting and repacking donated food.

Advocate.

We believe that access to healthy food is a basic human right and not a privilege. Help
bring the issue of hunger out from the shadows. Register to lead an online food drive to
get the message out about helping hungry North Texans. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter,
Linkedin, YouTube and Instagram to share our messages.
