Fort Worth Local Showcase: Cocoon Living Interiors
Those of us over here at Shop Small Fort Worth are all about preserving our community’s character through local businesses. We care about their stories, their trials, and their successes. We love the concept of creating for and buying from one another, and we love to support others seeking to do the same. So that is what this blog series is all about — championing local businesses. Telling their stories, and maybe, encouraging others to start one of their own!

Interview with Jessica Jose of Cocoon Living
Can you tell us a little about yourself and your shop?
After my mother, Susan Jose, owned Chiffoniers and Farmhouse, and I owned Hot Poppy Couture, all Fort Worth businesses, we decide to come together and follow our passion of creating beautiful spaces. Cocoon Living Interiors was started a year ago offering decorating services using styles varying from modern, farmhouse, and boho chic to traditional or industrial. We also rep a fabulous custom shutter line out of California and offer tips, trends, and one of a kind finds on our Facebook page. We recently added home accessories and apparel for sale as well.
What made you want to start your shop?
After years of retail experience between the two of us, it is hard to stay away from sharing our favorite finds with our friends. After an unexpected and overwhelming response to our Facebook posts, we decided it would be a perfect time to add an online store and participate in a few pop-up markets.
What have been your biggest struggles so far in owning your own business?
Every small business has challenges whether it be finding and keeping loyal employees, gaining support from your community, or simply just not having enough time to accomplish everything that needs to be done in a day. Of these, having local support is probably the most important and is imperative to have a successful business.
Thinking about the past year, what has been one of your big successes?
This past year, social media marketing and networking has been our biggest success. After just 10 weeks with our Cocoon Living Facebook page, our number of followers grows daily and client list rises. We cannot wait to see how social media will help grow our new venture in the months to come!
When you aren’t busy with your business, what do you like to do?
For fun we spend time with friends and family, travel, and love to search for one of a kind treasures.
Where do you draw your creativity from?
Our favorite place on earth is Round Top, Texas. There are so many creative people in one place that see beauty in things that are from all over the world and know the potential that these items have to add to others spaces. We often draw our creativity from colors, textiles, nature, and architectural elements but also gain inspiration from how other people see some of these old things that most would pass off as junk. The possibilities are endless!
What do you like most about being part of a community of small shops in Fort Worth?
Shop Small is such a great way to share your network will fellow business owners. We are so thankful to be a part of a community of local businesses that want to create a synergy between one another and also uplift and support others to be successful.
You can find Cocoon Living Interiors and other businesses like theirs at the Shop Small Fort Worth Spring Market on March 25th and 26th, 2017. It’s coming up soon, and we could not be more excited! This two-day event will feature amazing local artists, small businesses, and craftsman, as well as including live music, food trucks, yard games and a cash bar. Tickets are available here, and part of our proceeds will be going to Pure Adventure.
