Fort Worth Local Showcase: Holistic Hemp Company
Those of us over here at Shop Small Fort Worth are all about preserving our community’s character through local businesses. We care about their stories, their trials, and their successes. We love the concept of creating for and buying from one another, and we love to support others seeking to do the same. So that is what this blog series is all about — championing local businesses. Telling their stories, and maybe, encouraging others to start one of their own!
Holistic Hemp Company
Interview with Amber Lansing from Holistic Hemp Company
Can you tell us a little about yourself and your shop?
After years of professional work in traditional industries, we, Amber and Alaina, founded Holistic Hemp Company in 2016. We hope Holistic Hemp will help people reconsider some of the common stereotypes associated with Hemp-based products Holistic Hemp Company proudly provides the finest phyto-cannabinoid rich products available in America. Our full-spectrum hemp oil products are sourced 100% from Colorado grown hemp, and are tested by a third party to ensure quality. We are committed to transparency and quality with all our products. To maintain our customer’s faith, we have our lab reports available. Each product is made from a specific batch of hemp, with a unique lab report showing its strong phyto-cannabinoid density. Our products are hand-stamped with their batch number to make it easy for our customers to identify its batch.
What made you want to start your shop?
Holistic Hemp was born from the culmination of market opportunity and the belief in the benefits of phyto-cannabidiol products. When the 2014 Farm Bill passed under President Obama, sisters Amber and Alaina Lansing decided that it was time to make a positive impact on the legal Hemp market.
What have been your biggest struggles so far in owning your own business?
We feel like we have to do everything twice to get it right and stay compliant. This industry changes very quickly and we have to be ready to make changes and adjust all the time. So far, label design and print has been the biggest nightmare. Graphic design really requires an expert, and we’re not it. We’ve since hired a graphic designer and we’re glad we did.
Thinking about the past year, what has been one of your big successes?
One personal success would be the relationships we have made. We want to work with other individuals who are building their own businesses. Having left the corporate world ourselves, we want to help other entrepreneurs make that switch to being your own boss and doing what you love. To date, we have been able to support two individuals in launching & expanding their own businesses! We also view just working in this industry a huge success. We want to make an impact on the environment and the health of world, and hemp is a perfect avenue to do that.
When you aren’t busy with your business, what do you like to do?
Most of our time, really pretty much all of it, is spent on the business. But, when our husbands do force us to take a break, Amber enjoys creating her handmade crystal jewelry, known as Chicks & Stones. She also enjoys painting, and learning about urban farming and biogeometry. Alaina enjoys being outside, spending time with her dogs, and taking as many hikes and camping trips as possible. She enjoys reading and loves everything related to economics.
Where do you draw your creativity from?
Our creativity comes from a blend of our own interests, and from constantly watching the industry. We are striving to bring a different image to the hemp industry, one more focused on professionalism and quality. We knew from the beginning we wanted to set ourselves apart from typical hemp companies and branding. We excited to be bringing a cleaner, more feminine touch to the industry.
What do you like most about being part of a community of small shops in Fort Worth?
As natives to Fort Worth, and small business owners ourselves, we love everything about Shop Small. It’s been a great avenue for us to get our products in front of individuals and businesses in Fort Worth. We love following the other artists and having a place to shop for great gifts!
You can find Holistic Hemp Company and other businesses like theirs at the Shop Small Fort Worth Spring Market on March 25th and 26th, 2017. It’s coming up soon, and we could not be more excited!
